Tiled Background Designer

Tiled backgrounds designer (bgpatterns.com)
I freaking love this. I’m a total sucker for patterns and so naturally, tiled backgrounds are something I’m really passionate about. I stumbled across this today and wanted to share. It has a really simple interface: you select colors, canvas texture, icon to repeat, and rotation. You can get pretty nice images with pretty little effort. Really nice little tool.
While we’re on this topic, check out www.stripegenerator.com. It’s an equally cool stripe background image generator.
Dosh - The All-Polymer Wallet

This seems like a clever idea to me. These wallets are all polymer which means none of the troubles that come along with natural material (limited availability, ethical concerns, extra care to keep nice, etc). They are water proof and very durable.

Sweet DIY
I think I want to add more D-I-Y projects to my mental to-do list. I love making stuff. I stumbled upon this today and thought it was sweet.

Check it out and the other stuff at makezine.com.
From the site:
“With the LEDkit™ solderless clock kit, you create a giant — 9″ x 5″ — super bright self-standing clock only 1/8″ thick that keeps accurate time — even during power failures up to 1 minute.
Your finished clock will change brightness at the push of a button, the digits fade smoothly when the time changes, and you can automatically synchronize multiple clocks.”
Mac Sudden Motion Sensor Apps
Apple Sudden Motion Sensor | William Computer Blog
If you’re lucky enough to be sporting a MacBook (regular, pro, air, etc.) laptop, then there are some fun application for you that take advantage of the sudden motion sensor in the computer.
(Note: The MacBooks have sudden motion sensors so that they can sense if the computer is falling or being moved quickly. With this awareness, the machine knows to lock the hard drive so that the data on it doesn’t get damaged by the fall.)
Nice how good innovation by Apple leads to other cool innovation by software developers.
